Modest room decor with just what is needed to stay in biking country. Ground and amenities are lovely with great views of surrounding area. Quaint partnership with local bakeries for breakfast pastries. Beds could be more comfortable, but service and access to amenities are wonderful. Love the commons room with hot beverage and oatmeal options.

We are longtime visitors and former residents of the Lanesboro area. We are drawn to Lanesboro for excellent entertainment at the Commonweal Theatre, and the breathtaking beauty of the Root River Bike Trail. On our latest trip over Labor Day weekend, we had the pleasure of lodging in the new Mayoral Suite at the Root River Inn. This lovely suite of rooms has every amenity for a most luxurious visit. The king size bed was comfy, the kitchen had everything needed to prepare morning coffee or dinner. The housekeeping is immaculate. This suite has a large bath area and a second room with additional sleeping accommodations. Perfect lodging for a family or in our case to bring the grandkids! We enjoyed our stay and the innkeepers, Allie and Ryan, so much we have already booked our next stay.

The location is perfect! Right in the middle of the action, close to all the shops and restaurants, with easy access to the trail. Beautiful, quaint, comfortable and clean. Includes secure storage for bicycles. The self check-in and check-out process was super quick and easy. We can't wait for our next visit!

We stayed here with 8 other bicycle riders to enjoy the Root River Trail. Each couple had there own room/suite. All rooms were very unique with plenty of character and some with spacious verandas with neat views. The owners, Ryan and Allie have taken much care with this historic property and go to great lengths to ensure full satisfaction 😀. Highly recommend 👌 p.s. loved the fresh morning bakery pastries!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Root River Inn. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The fresh pastries in the morning were amazing. When we weren't on our bikes, we enjoyed sitting out on the patio and in the garden. Enjoyed chatting with the hosts on several occasion and they made sure we were happy and content.
