We had such a great experience at Root River Inn and Suites! Ryan, the new owner, was so personable and helpful and we felt like he was part of the family by the time we left. He had a great suggestion for dinner and invited us to "open mic" night to watch him sing. The inn is clean and welcoming and very comfortable. The pasties from the local pastry shop were a great touch. We can't wait to go back! We just returned to root River Inn and Suites for our 3rd time. It is our go to place to stay whenever we are in Lanesboro. Once again, it did not disappoint us. We stayed in a suite which was very convenient to have a place for our friends to gather after biking. It was fun to see all the upgrades in the rooms since we were there last. They really have done a nice job and have continued to put customers first! Having the locked bike room is so nice! Once again Ryan, the owner greeted us and made us feel so welcome. We already have our fall trip planned and will stay at this Inn for sure. September 2024 Back again for our yearly bike trip. This time we brought some new friends with us to the Inn and they were so impressed! All of the nice touches and beautiful woodworking and furniture courtesy of our host, Allie were so impressive. We loved going to their coffee shop, Paddle On, and once again we enjoyed renting the suites so we could use the upper level deck for our group. Looking out at the beautiful view of the grounds was wonderful. We also appreciated the invitation from our hosts to join them for S’mores. Every time we come we hear about more improvements they have made to the inn to make their guests have the best experience possible! We highly recommend Root River Inn and Suites.

We stayed here this week and loved this Inn! Freshly remodeled, several sitting areas, flowers galore, right on the bike path. Overlooking the Root river for floating, fishing, or just sitting and listening to the amazing waterfall up the block. Now that the sign is up, this is the real deal :>) Book your peace and tranquility stay in this beautiful Valley town, Lanesboro. Oh, the owners are amazing too!!!

This was our first time staying in Lanesboro and we are so happy we chose the Root River Inn. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and there are plenty of patio tables and chairs for all guests. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having coffee and pastries on the patio each morning. The Inn is located right on the biking trail and you can walk to all the shops and restaurants in town.

Any trip to the wonderful area of the country should include a stay at the Root River Inn. The accommodations were spotless and beautifully appointed. The grounds are relaxing and pleasing. The variety of rooms offered can board all from a single traveler to a large family. I cannot say enough about the Palmer family who own and operate the Inn. Their attention to every detail, knowledge of the area and engaging personalities made the trip an absolute joy. If there were a rating higher than 5 stars I would give it.

We enjoyed a wonderful, comfortable stay at The Root River Inn. Ryan was a gracious and helpful host. The Pine Room, equipped with a kitchenette and 2 beds (1 fold out futon), took care of our basic needs. The deck was great for the spirit. Did I mention- there is a smokeless fire ring, a hammock, and secure bike storage...and you're on a rolling hill. So basically- the place was clean, comfortable, and downright inspiring views. Custom wood moulding and paint job on the inside as well! We were visiting Lanesboro a a family vacation, with biking as the main activity. Did 21 miles with the kiddo on the tag-a-long. She exclaimed, "This is so fun and beautiful here" at least three times. Usually she just want to do something else.

My husband and I have been coming to Lanesboro for many years and got to be good friends with the previous owners (Jim and Pam) of the Root River Inn (Brewster's Red Hotel), so when I scheduled a girls trip to Lanesboro and was told the new owners would be taking over the day before our arrival and we would be their first guests, I was a little nervous. Well, my nerves were calmed the minute we met Allie and Ryan! They were wonderful hosts during our stay! They have made some wonderful updates to a couple of the rooms and added a few little surprises such as pastries in the morning along with our coffee and an afternoon treat of homemade truffles and iced coffee! Our rooms were very clean with comfortable beds. We enjoyed sitting in the yard in the evenings with a glass of wine and taking in all the wonderful landscaping. It was a very relaxing girls getaway. I highly recommend the Root River Inn! You won't be disappointed!! My husband and I plan to visit again in the fall to do some biking!

We were so thrilled to be the first guests of the new owners at the Root River Inn! Four of us were on a girls' outing and even though all of the family of the new owners were busy working and updating the premise, we felt they worked hard to make our stay special. Our rooms were ready, very clean, and had comfortable beds. We loved that we could sit right outside our rooms and enjoy the beautiful landscaped grounds as we enjoyed our girl talk. Each morning we were treated to coffee and pastries; what a way to start the day! Even though the new owners were busy updating rooms, they still found time to spoil us with an afternoon treat of homemade truffles and iced coffee! We loved the location of this quaint inn; we were able to walk to the local restaurants, shops, and theater, as well as the trail system. For future hotel guests, you're in for a treat, as we were able to see some of the updates that were made in just a few short days! The community of Lanesboro will touch your heart!

Everything at the Red Hotel inside and out was extremely well-kept, immaculate and clean. The trees around our deck provided shade (or sun if we moved the chairs). My husband wished he had more time to sit in the yard, enjoying the atmosphere. The hill and trees provided a quiet oasis in the middle of town. The owners were helpful for information about where and what to do.
